The North Penn School Board has put an Inglewood Elementary School expansion and renovation project out for bids.

Charter School Rejected in North Penn School District

The North Penn School Board has rejected a proposal for a charter school.   The Montgomery Flex School would have used a combination of online learning and personalized instruction in a bricks and mortar school to serve students between 7th and 12th grade.   North Penn officials say Montgomery Flex failed to demonstrate sustainable support in the community, identify a suitable facility and show that it could provide students with an education.   They also say the application submitted was for a cyber school and under Pennsylvania law only the state can grant those.   Montgomery Flex Charter School Founder Tim Sager says he is not surprised by the initial rejection and he will either file an appeal with the state department of education or resubmit the application with changes that address the issues brought up by North Penn officials.

Parochial School Update

Seven catholic elementary schools in Bucks and Montgomery Counties will remain parish schools after winning appeals of a blue ribbon commission recommendation to close or consolidate.   They are Saint John the Baptist in Ottsville, Saint Michael the Archangel in Tullytown, Our Lady of Grace in Penndel, Saint Mark in Bristol, Saint Ephrem in Bensalem, Holy Trinity in Morrisville and Visitation BVM in West Norriton.   Sain John the Evangelist in Lower Makefield will close in June instead of becoming a regional school as recommended by the blue ribbon commission.   The final decision on the fate of Conwell-Egan High School in Fairless Hills is due next week.
