Paul Caracchiolo, a track team member at Souderton High School has organized a 5-k run called “Pace Yourself For Parkinson’s.” Caracchiolo says his grandfather passed away from Parkinson’s. He says, it’s happening Saturday, September 7th at Franconia Community Park
“We have guest speakers at 10am. It officially starts at 10:30am. Dr. Lee Kubersky, my grandfather’s Parkinson’s doctor, will be speaking about Parkinson’s and what is and how we can raise awareness. We hope to raise 6,000 dollars.”
Caracchiolo is carrying out the 5-k run with his classmate, David Capobianchi. Caracchiolo was a guest Thursday morning on the AM-Edition with Darryl Berger
Two men are in custody in connection with the murder of Pennridge High School graduate, 21-year-old Kevin Figaniak. Wheeling Police have charged 22-year-old, Craig Peacock of Lewiston, Florida and 24-year-old, Jarrett Chandler of Winnfield, Louisiana. The two men were arrested at a campsite in Wheeling used by oil and gas workers. Both men are being held on 1-million dollars bail. Figaniak was a senior at Wheeling Jesuit University, where he played on the varsity lacrosse team and club hockey team. Figaniak and another man were attacked as they walked backed to campus just before 2AM Saturday. Figaniak suffered the worst of the assault, leaving him with severe brain injuries. Figaniak passed away early Sunday morning. A prayer service was held on the campus of Wheeling Jesuit University Saturday. Figaniak is being remembered at Pennridge High School. "Pennridge High School and its community are saddened and shocked by the news of the untimely and horrific death of one of our graduates, Kevin Figaniak. Kevin was an outstanding young man with a high level of energy and a very competitive nature. Kevin was a hardworking student with a love for ice hockey and lacrosse. He continued that eagerness for competition through his college years at West Virginia Wesleyan where he followed his passion for lacrosse and his educational goals. Kevin’s outlook on life was very positive. His teachers describe him as always upbeat and caring for his teammates and peers.Kevin will be sorely missed by everyone at Pennridge High School. Our condolences go out to his family and friends on the news of this terrible tragedy.

Solar Power is coming to Montgomery County Community College, an initiative by the college in cooperation with siemens to bring more awareness to green technology. the panels will be set-up near the intersection of Morris Road and Route-202. The 44 panels will be capable of producing more than 12-thousand watts of power. The panels will be installed next month.
The Assistant Superintendent of the Wissahickon School District is moving up the educational career ladder. Michael Marchese will get to drop “assistant” from his title in his new post when he becomes the Avon Grove School District’s new Superintendent. The Avon Grove School District has released information through its website that Marchese will start in the position in October. Marchese has been in education for 15 years. During that time, he has served as Vice Principal, Principal and as an adjunct professor for several university graduate programs.
