Budget Adopted in NP School District

There was standing room only Thursday night as the North Penn School Board took final action on a budget for the next school year.   The 200-million dollar spending plan holds the line on property taxes without cutting any district programs.   It also demotes 36 teachers to parttime status and includes layoffs for 13 support staff workers because their unions have not accepted a six month pay freeze the school board requested to help balance the budget.   The demotions affect teachers at the high school, the three middle schools and the Northbridge school.

Despite Challenges, North Penn High School Graduates Look Forward To Bright Future

The North Penn graduating class of 2011 sent their blue caps airborne on Wednesday and now look to the future. North Penn principal Burton Hynes says, thanks to the class of 2011, North Penn High School achieved national recognition in education and athletics.  Class valedictorian, Julian Pei told his classmates that while the country is currently economically challenged, it’s important to focus on positives in an effort to help foster change.  Pei says it’s important to accept the current upheavals and to remember that opportunity is the other part of the equation. The class of 2011 is the 56th to graduate from North Penn High School.

Graduation at Souderton Area High School

There was plenty of pomp and circumstance as members of the class of 2011 received their diplomas at Souderton Area High School Friday night.   Almost 500 seniors participated in the graduation ceremnony.   The graduates include two National Merit Award finalists.   Valedictorian Aaron Lowe told his classmates that their best years are still ahead of them.

Souderton Girl Memorialized and Remembered For Her Creativity

A rosebud tree will forever keep a sense of innocence alive in Souderton for those who loved Skyler Kauffman. In

addition to the planting ceremony outside her elementary School Tuesday, family and classmates of Skyler read poems

she composed.  Skyler would have celebrated her 10th birthday Tuesday.  In early May Kauffman was murdered.

 A neighbor who was a resident in her apartment complex is being held in connection with her slaying.
