Walk Off Win For Phillies

philliesEven a morning snow storm and sub forty degree weather couldn't dampen the Phillies plans for a thrilling opening day win. Trailing 4-2 going into the bottom of the ninth, the Phillies singled six times capped off by John Mayberry's thrilling bases loaded stroke with one out that gave the 'Fightins  a 5-4 come from behind opening day win at home over the Houston Astros. Leading 1-0 in the top of the seventh, former Phil Michael Bourn tripled in two runs then scored to give the Astros a 4-0 lead. The Phils got their first two runs in the seventh on a Ryan Howard sacrifice fly and a Raul Ibanez ground out. Roy Halladay started for the Phils, going six innings, giving up a run on five hits while striking out six. Danys Baez pitched the ninth inning to get the win for the Philadelphia. The Phillies and Astros meet again Saturday night as Cliff Lee makes his return to Philadelphia. AM 1440 WNPV's radio coverage begins with the pre-game show at 6:30pm.
