Hatters State Softball Champs

Hatboro-Horsham is the state high school softball champion.   The Hatters beat Pennsbury 4 - 3 in the PIAA AAAA championship game Friday.   The game was played at Penn State University and Pennsbury was leading going into the sixth inning.   That's when the Hatters rallied to score three runs on one hit.   H-H pitcher Maggie Shaffer put it away by throwing a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh.

Halladay To Start All-Star Game

Phillies right-hander Roy Halladay has been selected to start tomorrow nights All-Star Game in Arizona. Halladay is 11-3 this season with a 2:45 ERA. He also has thrown six complete games. This is the second time Halladay has started an All-Star contest. His first time was in 2009 as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays. He gave up three runs in that game. Last season, his first as a Phillie, he pitched 2/3 of an inning  giving up two hits while striking out one in a National League win. This is his eighth All-Star Game selection. The Phillies are a league best 57-34 at the break.

Dock Softball Season Ends

The longest season in the history of Christopher Dock girls softball came to an end on Monday afternoon when the Pioneers lost to Brandywine Heights in the state semi-finals, 2-0. Bullets starting pitcher Sara Fronheiser held the Pioneers to just four hits while striking out nine. The only offense of the game took place in the top of the fifth when Jenn Dalickas hit a two out triple to plate the only runs that Brandywine Heights would need. The Bullets improved to 26-2 and will play of the state title on Friday morning at Penn State. Christopher Dock, who lost in last year's quarter-finals, finishes 21-5.
