5,000 Flu Shots Ordered in Montco

The Montgomery County health department has ordered 5,000 doses of flu vaccine from Sanofi Pasteur of Swiftwater, Pennsylvania for just under $57,000.  Department director Joseph DiMino says that’s down by 2,000 from last year, reflecting what the county actually used.

NP School Board Approves Warehouse Development

North Penn School District officials are moving ahead with renovating a Lansdale warehouse that they bought six months ago for about $2 million. The school board has approved a site development agreement with the borough for the four acres on West Eighth Street.  The district will use the warehouse for storage, as well as office space for the support services staff.   

Montco to Look at New Fire Code

Montgomery County Commissioners Joe Hoeffel and Bruce Castor say they will look into having the county planning commission draw up a model building code for municipalities, following last week’s Consohocken fire that destroyed two occupied apartment buildings. Castor says he is concerned about common attics with no sprinklers or firewalls.

Four-Day Work Week Nixed by Montgomery County

The Montgomery County Commissioners have abandoned the idea of letting some employees work ten hours a day four days a week, instead of eight hours a day five days a week.  Chairman Jim Matthews says it would be unworkable.
