Teen Driver Testifies In Chae Murder Trial
A young woman who admitted being the getaway driver took the witness stand Tuesday in the trial of three men accused of killing a Montgomery Township man during a home invasion robbery. Sybil White, who was 17 last January when the crime occurred, said she borrowed her mother’s Cadillac Escalade and drove three men to victim Robert Chae’s Gwynmont Drive home. She positively identified them as Amatadi Latham, Karre Pitts and alleged ringleader Joseph Page. She said she dropped them off, then drove to a nearby Wawa store and waited for page to call on a cell phone. When she returned to the Chae home the men jumped in saying, “Go! Go! Go!” She said she heard Pitts ask Page, “Why’d you have to kill the man?” Page replied, “He was coming at me so I had to do what I had to do.” White said she was so scared afterward that she had nightmares, and she was always afraid someone was following her to get her.
